No one knows the inner workings of AEGEE until they have been at an Agora, the members’ assembly of AEGEE-Europe – this is what we always say in AEGEE. And for me, it proved true even on my second Agora.
Arrival
Autumn Agora Budapest 2026 took place in the lovely Hungarian capital and was organised by one of the most cheerful AEGEE antennae that I have gotten to know so far: AEGEE-Budapest. After arriving by train from Mannheim on Tuesday, we found our accommodation. Unlike most AEGEE events, we did not stay with our mattresses in a gym, but in a dorm for high school students. The beds were comfy, the food was plenty, there was just a load of Hungarian paperwork waiting for us every time we descended the stairs towards the lobby. Signing six different liability wavers, all of them including a field for one’s mother’s maiden name, felt gruesome even to the most hardened secretaries of AEGEE-Antennae.
Agenda
The Agora itself took place at Corvinus University, and as always it consisted of an Opening Ceremony with a dance show and music, after that large Plenary sessions alternating with smaller Prytanium sessions, workshops and progress meetings.
As a delegate of AEGEE-Heidelberg, I had mandatory attendance to most of these sessions. The visitors on the other hand could freely choose which sessions to attend. Of course there were also envoys, the people send by a European Body of AEGEE, and lastly observers, who come from the Contacts of AEGEE-Europe. Not to mention the dark participants. To understand what they do, you will have to be at a European Event yourself.
Highlights
In the evening we enjoyed the typical parties, most notably the Flag Party, the Noah’s Ark Boat Party, and the Halloween-themed European Night.
Among my personal highlights are also the Flag Auction organised by the Help Ukraine Task Force, the rekindling of our connections to AEGEE-Nijmegen as well as the signing of the Convention d’Adhésion by three new Contact Antennae: AEGEE-Paris-Saclay, AEGEE-Veszprém, and AEGEE-York. As is tradition, the whole of the Agora sang
