Board Hits the Treetops: Who Really Lost Their Nerve Up There?

Sometimes team bonding doesn't happen in long-winded meetings. It happens 15 meters above the ground.

As their very first official act, our new board recently braved the Kletterwald Viernheim ropes course. Officially for team building, unofficially to find out who actually has a head for heights and who's just been faking it.

Spoiler: not everyone passed the test.

While most of us swung bravely (or at least convincingly acted the part) from platform to platform, one person suddenly developed an intimate understanding of how carabiners work. We won't call names, but she just happens to be running our board right now. Presidential duties aside, apparently leadership has its limits at 15 meters.

The rest of us, naturally, seized the opportunity. No tears were shed, but among all the grinning faces, a few rather unflattering photos are now also in circulation.

By the end of the day, here's the scorecard:

• Nobody got hurt (aside from a few board members' dignity)

• Every obstacle was conquered, some more gracefully than others

• Team spirit was well and truly strengthened 🙂

Exhausted but in great spirits, and with team spirit freshly proven, we headed straight into the board meeting afterward. Remarkably productive, considering our arms were still weak from climbing. 

Then again, maybe it was the pizza keeping spirits up 😀
